    private rooftop onsen
    difficult access with luggage

    The private rooftop onsen offered magnificent views of the snow-covered landscape, making our soak truly unforgettable.

    Getting to the ryokan can be challenging with heavy luggage, especially since the hotel isn't right in the main part of town.

    kaiseki dinner
    stunning onsen
    dining wait
    taxi mix-ups

    The dining experience at Ryokan Biyunoyado was absolutely delightful, especially their kaiseki dinner, which was a feast for the eyes and taste buds! And let's not forget the stunning view from the rooftop onsen, where I soaked while gazing at the snow-dusted mountains. Truly magical!

    However, waiting 20 minutes for breakfast seating was a bummer, especially when they could have set up outside. Plus, there were a couple of taxi mix-ups that had us twiddling our thumbs. Still, everything else sparkled!

    exceptional hospitality
    exquisite meal
    small toilet space
    limited privacy
    navigation challenges

    Exceptional hospitality shines here. the staff quickly resolved a lost mobile phone issue, showcasing their impressive efficiency. The onsen experience was delightful, particularly the rooftop option, offering a stunning view while relaxing. The traditional meal served was exquisite, featuring diverse, beautifully presented dishes. However, be mindful of the somewhat small toilet space, which could be more comfortable for guests.

    The location is fantastic, with easy access to the Shiga Kogen ski area, perfect for a family winter getaway. The kids loved the private onsen, and the traditional kaiseki dinner was a delightful experience. The local flavors truly stood out during our stay.

    For dads, it would be great to have more family-friendly dining options.
